I Got My Island On: Royal Glitter Bay Villas Awaits Your Arrival

Image via Wikipedia Examiner: "As the 767 lowered its wheels over the blue sea in preparation for landing at the Bridgetown Airport, the pilot defined it all: “Flight crew please prepare for landing in the Barbados…. Sorry, I meant to say ‘paradise.’”

As his voice clipped out on the speakers, a roar of laughter filled the plane.

This was my first trip to the Barbados, and after I cleared customs, I was off with excitement to explore. The hot sun hit me once outside the airport and made me feel free and alive."

Peter Collins: From Barry to Barbados with soul

Image via Wikipedia WalesOnline "BARBADOS Bert limped to his bar stool in the corner of his bar, popped a mint into his mouth and trained his gaze on one of several TV screens showing various sports events.

Even a first-time visitor to Bert’s Bar, just across the road from Accra Beach in Rockley, Barbados, would somehow know the mint-sucking man in the corner was in charge. Bert exudes that air of polite but firm authority which leaves one in no doubt that this is his domain.

I met Bert when I visited Barbados for the first time in 1985, while watching the mighty West Indies cricket team thrash England at the Kensington Oval. I stayed in one of the chalets behind his bar which he lets out to visitors."

Can the sun and the sea of Barbados bring two sisters closer together?

Island Girls: "I played that role myself as a preteen at extended family gatherings. My sister would sidle up to me for a little gossip to keep occupied. I enjoyed the bumped-up status of having her talk with me as she would with her friends. So I’m curious to see how long Hayley chooses to hang with her sister. First stop is Harrison’s Cave."
