Christmas in Barbados today is quite a bit different from in the days of my childhood.I guess as with most things today it is very commercial.The banks offering loans to go,new credit card offers arriving in the mail and all the trappings of a business driven lifestyle.

No more horse carts or donkey carts,no traditional Christmas carols or very few of them.No children running around and playing as in days of yore but as things improve things will change and you get the good with the bad.Barbados is still Barbados and I suspect that we are still Bajans so I know how Christmas will be for most this year.Eating,drinking,shopping and forgetting.......

I hate to look at the Barbados tourists site that give the history of Barbados.The ones that talk of Columbus discovering these islands and the other foolish tales that the Bob Marley and Burning Spear called 'mis-education'.I agree with them as a matter of fact Burning Spear referred to Christopher Columbus as a 'damn blasted liar'.Thank god for Rastafari. One of the funniest stories is the one of the bearded fig tree and the name Los Barbados which was supposed to mean 'the bearded one'. I am trying again.I am trying to get an Internet connection for my mobile phone through Cable and Wireless and it is proving to be a very difficult undertaking.As I said in a previous post they are sending me in circles and I am kind of enjoying it now.I just want to see how long it will take me and the excuses they are giving me.I called the Cable and Wireless customer care number yesterday and the rep told me to go back to the outlet again and tell the attendant to manually configure the phone since it cannot be configured automatically.If this doesn't work she said to ask for a senior person and tell them and it shouldn't be a problem.So I will be going to the Cable and Wireless outlet in Cave shepherd again today to see what happens. Now I explained to the customer care rep on the phone that I did all of this already(except asking for the senior person) and it didn't work.I queried as to if it would be possible for she to give me the information so that I can configure
